Conference on Culture and Disability: During the first quarter, the PMU held formal discussions with Mr. Asante a visually impaired disability activist who is the Greater Accra President of the Federation of Disabled Persons. However, in order to broaden the consultation, the PMU contracted the services of a consultant who travelled met with different stakeholders and also did research on existing information on the disability law. He identified work previously done, especially by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) and suggested collaboration with both CDD and the Ghana Federation of the Disabled. A preliminary meeting was held with the Coordinator of the Federation and further meetings with CDD. It was agreed that CDD will be the lead consultant and also that the event will

take place in Accra in

May. Seminar for Parliamentary Select Committee on Culture: Discussions began with the leadership of Parliament as soon as Parliament reconvened after the elections but the PMU had to wait until the Select Committee had been set up. Subsequent to that the PMU has had meetings with the Chair of the Select Committee and the seminar has been slated for May 2009.

Conference on Culture, Witchcraft and Human Rights: Preliminary and informal meetings took place discussions took place between the PMU and several groups which led to the identification of a consultant, Ms Yaba Baidoo, a visiting scholar at the Institute of African Studies. Ms Baidoo had to travel to the UK, thus

necessitating postponement of the event to the next PE. However, upon further discussions, the event is to be held within the current PE and therefore further consultations have continued towards holding the event in

June.
